We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented individual to join our Clients team as a Grosser. In this crucial role, you will be responsible for the accurate handling and processing of surgical specimens, ensuring the integrity and proper identification of each sample.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure correct accessioning and labeling of specimens.
- Conduct gross examination and dissection of received specimens.
- Document gross anatomical features of routine surgical specimens with precision, noting all relevant details.
- Analyze clinical data to determine necessary pathological examinations.
- Provide clear and thorough dictation of findings.
- Select appropriate tissue samples for slide preparation, including photographic documentation when necessary.
- Escalate complex specimens to higher-level professionals as required.
- Maintain the laboratory's cleanliness and comply with OSHA safety standards.
- Handle biohazardous materials safely and participate in safety training sessions.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Maintain confidentiality of all sensitive information.
- Communicate effectively across all levels of the organization and with clients.
- Adapt to overtime, on-call duties, or schedule changes as needed.
Qualifications:
- Associate degree in chemical, physical, or biological science, or medical laboratory technology.
- At least 1 year of laboratory training or experience in grossing preferred.
- State licensure preferred.
- ASCP required.
Preferred Experience:
- 2+ years of experience in a high-volume laboratory setting.
Compensation: $40.00 to $60.00 per hour, depending on experience and location.
